What Causes Unresponsive Behavior In An Elderly Person?

Last night my 79 year old mom became unresponsive at dinner. Just put her head to her chest and was unresponsive. She has HTN and recently had had a diuretic added to her medications. She had been feeling very tired in the mornings but okay in the afternoon . She had some slurred speech and she said that was because her mouth was really dry. She had a seizure in March of this year but has never had another one in her life. SHe is on Keppra and the ER MD said she is anemic.

dear,
as I can understand from the history above, your grandma has the following problems
1) poor consciousness
2) hypertension, on medication
3) slurred speech
4) anaemia
5) history of seizure episode

this strongly point towards problem in brain, which could be
1) haemorrhage in brain conferring acute onset, poor consciousness , slurred speech and underlying hypertension with meds
2) mass in brain considering seizure episode and poor consicusness with anemia(? blood malignancy)
3) brain infraction would present with similar picture too

I suggest an MRI brain, it will make a picture clear.

I would like to know if
there is a significant weight loss in recent times, poor appetite and infections recently.
if there is history or fall or brain injury
Anwers to these will make the picture and diagnosis more clear.

I advice you to get the MRI done, let me know the reports and consult a neurologist soon.

hope you find my opinion useful.
thank you. stay healthy
