Hi, my husbands blood pressure has been unstable since yesterday, I just took his reading and it is 138/94 he is on benicar and it has not helped, he is also complaing of one side of his lower back hurting. Should he go to the er for further evaluation?
Hi welome to HCM Pain in lower back is suggestive of chest pain radiating to back which is most likely due to an ongoing MI.He should be immediately taken to EMR.Get an ECG,2D ECHO,Troponin T,lipid profile, blood sugars.Since his blood pressure is high he may needs urgent stabilization.Drugs like Anti platelets,Anti hypertensives, cholesterol lowering drugs,Nitroglycerine will be helpful. He may needs Coronary angiography followed by stenting if abnormality found.Low salt high protein diet should be given.Consult your cardiologist for expert management. Thankyou
