What Causes Upper Abdominal Pain During Menstruation?
Hello ~ My 13 yo daughter has been experiencing abdominal pain. We re working with a gastroenterologist and preliminary diagnosis is IBS...We re awaiting lab results and meet again next week. I ve noticed her painful IBS attacks occur within 1-3 days of starting her menstrual cycle. Is it a possibility that her abdominal attacks are caused by her menstrual cycle? The pain is in the upper abdominal area...not low near her ovaries or uterus.
It could be a part of dysmenorrhea. You can take analgesics like Mefenemic acid for symptomatic relief. If pain persists better to consult a gynecologist and get evaluated.
