Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding After Taking Imol?
My dad is a 74 year old who had UGI bleeding a month before. The doctor performed endoscopy and found chronic ulcer and some medicine was sprayed on the ulcer. In another 2 days, another endoscopy was done and found that the wound was responding. We continued with the medications for a month, and the ulcer is fully cured now. The doctor suggested biopsy of the surrounding surfaces and the results have come now with an impression that infiltrating adenocarcinoma of the gastric mucosa - moderately differentiated intestinal type is found. The biopsy results went for second opinion to confirm this. Please let know how to proceed? He was using IMOL tablets continuously everyday 3 to 4 times, before this UGI bleeding
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history about your Father and understood your concerns. Since this is a diagnosed case of adenocarcinoma of stomach by biopsy, this becomes by far the most important issue and hence I would advise you the following in such a situation: Consult the Onco Surgeon immediately for further evaluation such as CT scan of the abdomen hence making it possible to decide whether this is a operable case or not. If operable get the surgery done and also consult Oncologist for any further radio or chemotherapy as prescribed as a standard protocol which your Father should strictly follow to have the best possible results. Also see that anemia and hypoproteinemia is best treated to get best possible results.
