Hello, and I hope I can help you today.
Even though vaginal
estrogen products are not supposed to be absorbed systemically, some women do have some absorption and get estrogen related side effects from them.
Because there can be an increased risk of
blood clots in the legs from estrogen, and
deep vein thrombosis (which is the medical term for this) can be a risk factor for
stroke and other complications, to be safe I recommend you see your physician for evaluation of your legs. If you don't have a blood clot, your symptoms may be due to something else, and you can be reassured that there is nothing medically life threatening going on.
So in summary, it is unlikely that the ring is causing your symptoms, but to be on the safe side, I would try to get evaluated for blood clots in the legs as this can be one of the serious complications from taking estrogen. You may want to take out the ring until you have your medical evaluation to be extra safe.
I hope I was able to adequately answer your question today and that my advice was helpful.
Best wishes,
Dr. Brown
