What Causes Urethral Bleeding During A Bowel Movement?

Hi Doc, Recently after a trip overseas, I get blood coming from my Urethra opening whenever I discharge my bowel movement (I don t get it when I urinate). There is pus-like excretions together with the blood about say 1 tsp. After that, there is some soreness on the Urethral opening and the lower sides of abdomen. Some aches on the muscles on the inner sides of the thigh as well. What could possibly be the problem? Thanks so much DOC!

Hi thanks for asking question.

Here you could have acute urethritis or urinary tract infection.

Get your urine examination for pus cells.
If present antibiotic needed for it like Cefixime.

Secondly rule out gonococcal like genital tract infection.Culture and gram stain examination helpful for it.if positive treated accordingly.

Third if still cause not clear prostatitis or bladder infection like condition could be ruled out by USG.

Meanwhile drink more water.

Cranberry juice also useful.

Fruits taken more.

Avoid excess spicy food.

Wish you good health.

Take care...
