What Causes Urge To Masturbate?

Hi! I am currently at the end of a slow taper off of Methadone. I have noticed increased urges to masturbate, sometimes 3 or 4 times a day. I am a 30 y/o married woman with a wonderful sex life. Is there science behind masturbation helping withdrawal symptoms.
