Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a son who will start to eat his food or any kind of dessert & will have to stop shortly after because he feels like he is going to throw up but does not. This has been going on for quite some time now, maybe a couple months? What is causing this? Please help!
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history about your son and understood the concerns. Nausea that is feeling of vomiting while eating food or taking dessert indicates a problem with stomach like gastritis or small stomach or outlet obstruction may be due to ulcer, fibrosis and so on. Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation: Get barium studies done and go fr an upper GI Endoscopy as these will show the correct diagnosis and gives a plan for appropriate management Also have to find out whether any specific foods or beverages cause the problems and stop these altogether. Also go for the tests of blood and stool. Thyroid functions, liver function and tests of blood are necessary. May be a psychological problem has to be ruled out if all the tests and clinical evaluation are normal.
