What Causes Urinary Retention After A Radical Prostatoctomy?

Hi, My husband had a radical prostatoctomy for prostate cancer, PSA result after surgery is 0.01 now. Due to scar tissue he has on going problem with passing urine by himeself. Second surgery is done for reset bladder neck to open it, but still same problem. Now they are saying do self cathetrization, which is done twice a day by husband, today is 4th day, but sincethis morning low stream again. What is the sloution for this onging problem, it is been 3 months since he had his surgery.

Hi
It looks like your husband has developed a complication called bladder neck stenosis after radical prostatectomy. The treatment will be dilatation followed by self catheterisation and if the narrowing recurrs then repeat dilatation.
The scar tissue that has formed will stabilise itself over time.
