What Causes Urinary Retention After Treated For Kidney Infection?
Hi, I am being treated for a severe kidney infection. My antibiotic finishes tomorrow but I m unable to pass urine today. This is my third time in a month this has happened. Iam78 years old and have suffered kidney infections all my life. Could I be in the early stages of kidney failure
You have been treated for kidney infections and had retention of urine thrice over a period of one month .
Repeated episodes of UTI with retention of urine strongly suggest to be due to Enlarged Prostate.
Please consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis. 1) Urine routine and culture. 2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis 3) Serum PSA.
Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis.
