What Causes Urinary Urgency After Catheter Removal?
My husband had to have a catheter placed as his bladder was not emptying. In the office they removed 1100cc and sent him home with catheter for three days. Removed catheter on Friday and now has urgency to urinate every 15-20 minutes going only a little at a time. Will this go away, are these bladder spasms? Email is YYYY@YYYY
As a physician and as per your history, this is probably a pregnancy overactive bladder. This condition generally happens after removal of the catheter.
Other common causes of urgency to urinate are urinary tract infection, cystitis, and bladder stone. For that, you can take tablet Urispas or Urokind after consultation.
If symptoms not relieved, you can do urine routine and urine culture sensitivity test. I will suggest you to review here with detailed history or consult with the urologist with reports.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
