What Causes Vaginal Bleeding After IUD Removal Surgery?

I had my IUD removed 3 weeks ago, I have had light bleeding ever since, the bleeding stopped last night. This morning I awoke with severe cramping and when I went to the bathroom there was black blood as well as clots. Is this normal? I am also still having severe cramps

Hi,
Kindly consult a gynaecologist immediately to know the cause of bleeding. Sometimes IUD lead to infections in the uterus causing pelvic inflammatory diseases for which antibiotics and analgesics are necessary.

Sometimes sudden withdrawal of hormone releasing IUDs can also cause withdrawal bleeding.
