What Causes Vaginal Bleeding After Intercourse?

Hi, i have a question that maybe a OBGYN could answer. I am 21 years old and was sexually active from january 2009 to february 2010, and during intercourse sometimes i would bleed. It seems to be like my period, but i am on birth control and shouldn't have my period during the times i was having sex. What might this indicate?

Hello,
Thanks for sharing your health concern with us. I have gone through your query and there are several options possible for causing your symptoms. 1. Rough intercourse can often lead to trauma to the soft parts and hence bleeding/spotting. 2. Improper size of the male and female genital organs. A smaller vaginal canal as compared to the male organ is bound to cause trauma. 3. Erosion of the cervix, infections of the cervix and vagina, polyps of the cervix and endometrium are other causes which need to be evaluated. Hope this helps.
