What Causes Vaginal Bleeding After Unprotected Sex?

Was on my period for 2 days. I stopped my period and didn t have any discharge whatsoever for all day yesterday, last night or even this morning/day. I had unprotected sex and about an hour later started bleeding pretty heavy without any warning. No cramps. No symptoms of period. What could this mean?

Hello,
Thanks for letting us know your health concern. The post coital bleeding you are experiencing needs further evaluation. Please report to your health care provider immediately. Though it is likely to be a continuation of your menstrual period, it remains to be seen if there are other causes like rupture of a cyst, polyp, tears, erosion of the cervix etc. Take absolute bed rest with elevation of foot end. Styptics can be of help to reduce the bleeding while help arrives. Do not exert. Maintain proper hydration. Avoid further intercourse until you are healed well. Hope this helps.
