Hello I have been prescribed clotrimazole 500mg for vaginal thrush. I have used the pessary last night before bed and this evening I got vaginal bleeding( bright red with clots). I would like to mention that I don t have a regular period ( maybe once in 3-4 months) due to taking minipill. I was wondering if the bleeding is caused by the pessary and if so if it is any cause of concern as well as if the bleeding affects the healing process of the thrush. Thank you C
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Spotting and irregular bleeding is a side effect of minipill due to the hormonal disturbances. However, vaginal candidiasis can also lead to bleeding from the vaginal walls due to inflammation. Moreover, local lesions in cervix or vagina including cervical cancer should be ruled out. I would suggest you to consult an OBGYN specialist to get properly examined, investigated and treated accordingly. Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health. Dr Deepti Verma
