What Causes Vaginal Bleeding During 5 Weeks Of Pregnancy?
Hi we have recently found out my wife is pregnant, earlier in the wek she noticed a small amount of bleeding, after a trip to A+E it was advised that we get a scan.
On the scan it showed that she was reoughly 5 weeks pregnant, the gestational sac was low in the uterus with no signs of a yoke sac, after stuggling the heart beat was found but was slower than expected.
What are our chances that this pregnancy will go to full term as we are really worried at the minute
General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
HI, I understand your concern. ?absence of yolk sac in your first sonography needs to be confirmed, heart sounds are also slower , but 5 weeks is just the time to detect heart sounds... I feel you need to repeat thew scan & have an expert's opinion on it. Repeated bleeding you have might be due to thretened abortion/ hormone deficiency causing weak pregnancy. Take bed rest/ avoid physical or psychological stress, consult a gynecologist for expert advise after examination/USG scan..De3pending on the diagnosis, supplementing hormone can help in saving pregnancy.. Thanks.
