What Causes Vaginal Bleeding During Urination?

My wife bled quite a bit on Saturday while urinating. She had no associated pain. It happened on 4 occasions but not since Saturday. She saw the dr today and will have lab results in a few days but I am bit nervous. Today they did see puss in the urine. There were also tiny worm like things in there that were black. We have no idea if this is related but she also has very severe heartburn which she never has - sternum area. She is very healthy otherwise - 5 1 and 110 lbs. Works out regularly. Is 51 and close to completing menopause. She had a period just shy of 1 full year about 1 month ago. She ll be taking antibiotics for the infection but what about these other sx? She said nothing like a UTI. Thanks! Jeff
