What Causes Vaginal Discharge With Blood After Intercourse?

Hi. I have had mirena in for about 6 weeks now. My bleeding has mostly stopped. But after intercourse sometimes the next day I seem to discharge what looks like bits of a mucus plug like I had when I was pregnant. It has a little blood too. Should I be worried?

Hello,

In the current scenario, you should check if there is any pressure on the IUD during the intercourse through checking the threads. Also, erosion on the cervix, ectropion, vaginal causes etc., should be checked. Please abstain until you are healed well and the cause detected.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shanti Vennam,
