What Causes Vaginal Pain And Short Period Post Unprotected Sex?

My period is suppose to start in 3 days. I have had unprotected sex, thought I might be pregnant but would be too early to test. I have had a really bad cold. Started coughing profusely for 2 days and had an awful vaginal pain all of a sudden and went to the restroom and noticed I was bleeding just a little bit. and then it slightly stopped.

Hi there,
After going through your query, I am of the opinion that:
1) Unprotected sex can lead to pregnancy. The slight bleeding could be implantation bleeding too.
2) The vaginal pain is also sometimes a sign of pregnancy.
3) If the bleeding starts properly like a period, then you need not worry about pregnancy.
4) You can take a blood test called serum beta HCG which can accurately predict pregnancy at this stage.
5) If you do not want a blood test, you need to wait at least 3 days after expected date of periods to get a positive result.

I hope I was able to give you a useful and satisfactory answer.
Regards,
Dr. Shikha S
