What Causes Vaginal Spotting And Bleeding After Taking Thyroxine 150 Mg?
My thyroxine was put up to 150mg 5 months ago and since then my periods have returned, I also have pcos and 2 children via ivf. I m having a light bleed every 28 days but I m spotting every day in-between, I ve got no pain or discharge but this morning (cycle day 14) I suddenly lost a bit more blood then usual and a dark clot about 2 cm and I can feel my cervix is quite open. What s going on could it be my thyroxine ?
Thyroid hormones is one of of the hormones that is known to affect the menstrual cycle. High or low levels can have an effect.
Other causes of abnormal bleeding would be: (1)structural cause such as fibroids or endometriosis (2)infection (3)abnormal levels of the prolactin hormone (4)emotional stress or illness (5)physical illness (6)side effect of medication
You should consider being assessed by your doctor. This would include a general and pelvic examination. Blood tests and an ultrasound may also be suggested.
I hope this helps
