What Causes Vaginal Spotting?

I am 74 years old. After discovering uterine cancer about 20 years ago I had a complete hysterectomy. About 6 months ago I started noticing some spotting in my underwear....it is green...sort of an apple green. I went to the gyn and she did a pap smear and swabbed the vagina and sent it off for testing. Tests did not show anything. The spotting continues and no one seems to have any idea of the problem.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The spotting cannot be considered normal and all possible causes has to be ruled out. For further work up CT scan pelvis is advisable. Initially per speculum examination should be done. Kindly attach your Pap smear report to check it. Investigate with coagulation profile as well.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
