What Causes Vertigo At Night?

What do you think of only nighttime vertigo? My friend s husband shared only when he lays his head down on the pillow at night the room spins. She took his blood pressure and it is normal. No dizziness in the day only at night and it is really bad and scary. It passes with positioning after a while. Sorry I thought this was a free service. Not paying just forget was just trying to help a friend. Please take my email off your list.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Changes in head position as you describe immediately resulting in a vertiginous feeling which then, calms down after about 30-60 seconds by keeping the bed still is the classic description of a condition known as BENIGN PAROXYSMAL POSITIONAL VERTIGO (BPPV). BTW, this is a free service when asking THESE questions. The premium service does cost to ask questions..not this side of things. Perhaps, your friend would like to contact us because this is an easy fix and does not represent anything considered dangerous or terminal.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further by contacting me at: www.bit.ly/drdariushsaghafi
