What Causes Vertigo In An Elderly Person?

I woke up 3 days ago with vertigo. The first time it happened I sat on the side of the bed a few minutes before I started walking. I was careful to hang onto furniture , etc moving around. I'm a nurse so I tried being careful. My bp,p 135/80 p 84 I'm careful not to bend over or get up too quickly. I'm 76 and retired and can't afford to go to ER, etc Its not as bad now but its still there.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

If the symptoms are present with particular movements of the head then it is likely that it may be BPPV (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo).

This is one of the more common causes of vertigo and it is related to the inner ear.

There is a maneuver , called the Epley maneuver, that can be used in persons with BPPV to treat the vertigo.

I hope this helps
