What Causes Vertigo While Suffering From Dementia?
My Mom, 92, has sudden vertigo. and fell down. they thought the dizziness was caused from a UTI, but now that infection has cleared up pretty much and she still has vertigo. She's in the hospital and they just told her well, you have to go to a ENT. dr. She can't wait a month. She has dementia too.

What Causes Vertigo While Suffering From Dementia?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Vertigo in old age may be due to BPPV or acute labyrinthitis or vestibular neuronitis or hypotension or anemia or hypoglycemia etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Avoid high risk activities, use tablet Vertin. If symptoms not improved please consult your neurophysician, he will examine and do MRI brain and treat you accordingly. Take care.
