Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
It feels like my colon is vibrating. I’ve had a hysterectomy last year. Appendectomy in 2000. I usually have hard stools but this morning it feels like my colon is vibrating, it comes and goes every few seconds. Should I be worried and go to the doctor or is it something that will pass. It has lasted now for about 8 hour. No pain.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Vibrating sensation may be due to bowel movements or abdominal wall muscle movements or fibrillation or constipation with vigorous contraction etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Avoid spicy food and alcohol avoid smoking and caffeine drinks. Use syrp lactulose thirty ml after dinner for five days. Take high fibre diet and do regular exercise. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
