Viral bronchitis can result a lot many times into a post viral chronic cough and hence your symptoms of bronchitis.
The itchy sensation in your chest is due to the inflammation in your wind pips. I will suggest you that you should start a steroid inhaler for some days so that the itchy sensation as well as the cough subsides.
