What Causes Vomiting After Eating?

I had a lap band put in 2 years ago. I have had no problems. Approximately 6 months ago I started vomitting occasionally after eating. I had an upper gi series done and the lap band is not keeping food from going down. In the past 2 week the vomitting happens right after i eat. I sometime can not keep down liquids either. past 2 days there is dark specks along with the emesis

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted your history of lap band 2 years ago and had no problems. Started occasional vomiting after eating about 6 months ago, got upper GI series which shows that the lap band is not allowing the food to go down.Now the vomiting is immediately after food for the last 2 weeks. There are dark specks along with the emesis for the past 2 days.
This is an obvious complication of lap band surgery hence is going out of fashion as the rate of complication is more than the other procedures like mini gastric bypass and sleeve surgery.
I would advise you the following;
Consult a Bariatric Surgeon conversant with other forms of surgeries and get a revision surgery to get this converted to another more suitable surgery.
This is the only proper solution as seen in other patients.
