Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Vomiting, Bruising Of Cheeks And Black Spots On Tongue?
my mum is on holiday in italy and called me asking me to help. She has been vomiting for the past 2 days, today she has so far not been sick nut has bright red cheeks (could this be slapped cheek) but has now noticed her tongue has black spots all over it
Thank you for the Question.. Since there can be many causes of black spots on tongue,it depends wether they are for long time, come and go on and off,or recently appeared. From your Mom"s history it could be viral fever (slapped cheek disease). But as history is not complete and what kind of black spots are these?wether these spots are flat or raised, smooth or fuzzy, does she smokes. A Physician needs to be visited by your mother as there can be lots of factors causing black spots on tongue. Some signs needs to be checked in clinic or at least by photoes. There are some bacterial diseases too which can cause these symptoms,so I would suggest complete history about, meal, food type, fever, swimming etc and spots needs to be seen by a doctor so patient can be evaluated thoroughly. Regards, Dr.Maheshwari
