What Causes Vomiting Sensation After Drinking Too Much?

Yesterday, my frined drunk too much, but today morning he called me and told me that he wants to through up but he can't and in a way he didn't eat or drink anything from the moment he woke up in.. is it good or bad to through up ? and why he wants to ? and why he can't ?

the capacity of stomach , so he wants to throw up .
