What Causes Vomiting When Diagnosed With Liver Cirrhosis?

My uncle was diagnosed with Cirrhosis on July 21st. When he was admitted to the hospital they drained 8 litres of fluid from his abdomen. He seemed ok (still hospitalized) when he was drained. Over the last few days he is throwing up and does not have a appetite. Again today he was drained of 6 litres of fluid. what can we expect by all this?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The condition seems to be worsen and prognosis not much good in such case. Cirrhosis is end stage liver disease and so ascites developed in your uncle. When excess ascites is developed, fluid drainage is done by ascetic tapping. Fluid restriction advisable in your case along with diuretic medication. For cirrhosis only treatment is liver transplantation. To reduce portal hypertension beta blocker can be prescribed.

Hope I have answered your query.
