My son is 1 month and 7 days old. His weight is 4 kg (app). He vomits after every feed and difficulty in taking burps. Also his burp sound is quiet big and he has some gas prob also. What are the causes of these two probs. Secondly the doctor has advised him Vitcofol and Vitazyme drops. Why? Regard Aditya
Hi. Thank for your query. Noted the history well about your one month and seven days old son and understood your concerns. The commonest cause of vomiting and burps after every feed in neonates indicate that there is a possibility of hypertrophied pyloric stenosis which must be ruled out. Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation: Take the child to the Pediatric Surgeon for clinical evaluation, examination and investigations of contrast studies for stomach and pylorus. If this is present the baby needs a surgery to resolve the problem. Vitcofol and Vitazyme drops are multivitamin supplements and are needed in case of vomiting to fulfill the requirement of the body hence advised by your Doctor, continue these unless they started the problems.
