What Causes Waking Up With Chest Pain And Nausea At Night?

Recently added Prozac tp m prescription list. For the past 4 nights I wake up about now with aching across the top of my chest and nausea. After a bit I vomit. It is like clear phlegm and it causes me to wretch many times. Once I have vomited I feel a little better. Then within an hour I fall back to sleep without any pain again. Also the air machine doc increased pramipexal yo 75 mg 1x day for restless legs. This is the 4th night this has happened. What causes it and should I be concerned?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

By your history and description, possibility of GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) is more likely. It is due to laxity of gastroesophageal sphincter. Because of this, the acid of the stomach tends to come up in the esophagus and cause chest pain, nausea, vomiting etc. Combination of Pantoprazole and Levosulperide twice daily on empty stomach will work better. Along with this, also avoid heavy meals at night, go for walking after meals, avoid junk food, avoid stress and tension, keep 2-3 pillows under head while sleeping. All these will definitely help you. Don't worry, you will be alright with all these in 1-2 weeks.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
