What Causes Warm Sensation On Head?

My mother has a shunt in her head which is functioning well however she is suffering periodically from a hot head . She has not got a temperature and feels quite cool but inside her head she is very hot. She has chiari malformation. She is 91 and getting very agitated at the moment. We have previously mentioned this to Doctors but they do not seem concerned about it.

Neurologist 's  Response
The feeling of warmth or heat in the head is most likely related to sudden dilation of the arteries in the head which allow more blood to come forth which creates the sense of warmth. The intracranial shunt would not be responsible for this symptom. She may be suffering from what we refer to as a DYSAUTONMIA which is a diagnosis that a NEUROLOGIST would be more capable of identifying and resolving as opposed to a neurosurgeon. Please rate this a 5 STAR CONSULTATION and write me at: www.bit.ly/drdariushsaghafi for more questions or comments.
