What Causes Weakness After Eating?

I often feel weak/drained after eating, as if my body is struggling to digest the food i ve eaten AND keep working. I had a blood test a month or so ago which came back all clear, but having had a blood sugar level test by my girlfriends mother this morning (she s diabetic), the reading came back as 1.5, which was taken about an hour after eating breakfast. Is it time to go back and see my doctor?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted your history of getting drained after eating as if your body is struggling to digest the food, all the blood tests were normal except for the blood sugar recently which came back as 1.5.
I would advise you the following:
Repeat the blood sugar tests at a formal Lab to get a clear picture.
It is more important to understand the following.
After food the blood supply from all over body is diverted to the GI system for proper digestion assimilation and so on. This causes the blood supply to other organs marginally reduced and hence you get weakness.
The solution is to have small frequent meals.
To rest for sometime after food.
To drink plenty of fluids orally to counter the dehydration.
Correction of anemia and hypo-proteinemia is also equally important.
To get few investigations like Contrast enhanced CT scan and to have angiography of the blood vessels supplying intestines.
I hope these corrective investigations and measures will help you.
