My husband, 73 yrs. old, is having increased weakness and dizziness when he tries to stand or walk. He had a stroke November 2016 which affected his right side, but not to the extent that he can t use it. He has had several hospitalizations since then, and what doctors are terming TIAs. Each episode of weakness seems to leave him so exhausted, and these times are increasing. He isn t having pain - other than when his blood pressure goes up high - in the 200 range - and he gets a headache. He is a large man, and I am unable to support his weight. We are afraid he is going to fall and suffer a broken bone or worse. He s been to the ER here locally many times for the erratic blood pressure - sometimes it bottoms out. He s a cancer survivor - 5 plus years - throat cancer stage 3, no surgery, but extensive radiation and chemo. He has two artificial knees, has had a heart attack - has 3 stents, one medicated, has had 2 nasal surgeries for deviated septum, broken rotator cuff, dislocated shoulder in high school football, cataract surgery, prostate removal after cancer was discovered, kidney stones, gallbladder removed, osteoarthritis in back and hip joint, has recently lost several teeth due to cavaties (we think from all the prescription medicine he takes), and probably other things I can t remember. We will have been married 34 years in June and he has always had a weight problem, but was a very active golfer when we married. There seem to be conflicting opinions about what is wrong with him now - that everything he s experiencing is a result of the effects of the stroke, that the problem is surely cardio related, that it is surely neurological, that it is neither and something else entirely. Our family physician, Dr. Stephen Besson, has been very proactive in treatment, and in sending us to specialists for second opinions. but so far, none of them agree and nothing that has been tried or done has helped. Thank you for whatever you can suggest. We are awaiting an appointment at the Cleveland Clinic.
