If I eat breakfast in the morning, 2 hours later I begin to shake and feel weak and have a blood suger level between 3.8 and 4.1. My dad and sister are diabetic type 2 and my neice is type 1. Am I being paranoid or should I avoid breakfast as if I do I am fine.
Hello there, The symptoms you are describing seem to be what we call "reactive hypoglycemia" Which means that after a meal your insulin levels do not increase in the normal pattern and increase after a delay because of which you feel low sugar symptoms after a couple hours. Considering a strong family history and your symptoms it seems you are at the beginning stages of getting diabetes (or at least at very high risk). You need not skip breakfast but rather split your breakfast in two portions, such that you eat half of it once and remaining half after 2 hours. That way you will not have the low sugar symptoms that you feel. Also begin some form of exercise (30 mins per day) and try to reduce the carbohydrate content of your meal gradually as this will help you to postpone the beginning of diabetes. Hope this helps you. Take care.
