Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I am Sara I am 23, 5 3 in height and 60kg. Over the course of 2 years I have gained about 10kg while being on the pill Qlaira, I have stopped this pill a few months back and I am now going to start taking Belara. I am currently working hard to lose the extra weight I put on and want to know what is your professional experience with this pill in term of weight fluctuation. I have read side effect could be weight gain and loss, but I would like a second professional point of view after seeing my Dr and being prescribed this new pill. Thank you in advance, Sara
Hi Sara, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Qlaira contains estradiol valerate and dienogest, which is first in a new class of oral contraceptives, known for reliable contraception and good cycle control. Weight changes are notable side effects associated with the drug because of hormonal changes. Belara contains ethinyl estradiol and chlormadinone acetate, which is a modern well-balanced oral contraceptive. It has a good acceptance as a consequence of the low rate of intermenstrual bleeding, its high cycle stability, good weight stability and very low rate of side-effects. It is better for you to continue with Belara what your Doctor has prescribed you now rather than Qiaira. Hope the information provided would be useful. All the best.
