What Causes Weight Loss, Night Sweats And Fatigue After Having Unsafe Sex?

Hi, I recently had unsafe sex with a male whom I ddnt know their hiv status and sexual life status, I fell sick, my partner fell sick too, after 5 weeks I have told him what happened and we went for hiv test. Which came out negative. I was still sick and losing a lot of weight, extreme night sweats, fatigue, loss of appetite, nails changed, lose bowl, and the results came negative both of us. However I asked for other check ups it turned out I had contracted chlamydia. Which now it makes it now 3 months. Can my sickness be that I have undetected Hiv? Thanks

Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
If your negative HIV test was done 3 months after the exposure then you need not worry about HIV infection. It is sure that your free from HIV infection to the extent of 97-98%. If it had been done earlier the test has to be repeated once again 3 months after your high risk activity. Chlamydia could not be the cause of weight loss and your other symptoms. But your symptoms are vague and they can appear for anybody at anytime and not necessarily associated with HIV. Consult your doctor and get well soon.
