Hi doctors. EVer since my mom dug my ear when i was younger a sort of weird thumping sound came right over and persisted a couple of years till it went away magically though it visited once in a very blue moon. Recent years brought it back and it affects my lifestyle thoroughly. It awoke me in the middle of the night, disrputs my lessons and etc. Online research proves that the ear problem is known as ear myoclonus. online forum talk and suggested some form of surgeries in which i hope to avoid considering that i m so young. The parental haven t heard of this. Hope you doctors could enlighten me and help me. God bless. Amanda
in my opinion this thumping sound is classical of Tensor tympani myoclonus. it's a middle ear muscle. I would recommend, tinnitus coping strategies of counselling, relaxation and anxiety reduction initially to my patient. if the symptoms are still problematic then BOTOX injection to concerned muscle to paralyze it, or cut away that muscle is last resource.
