What Causes Wheezing And Throat Congestion While Having Tonsilitis?

Hi. My husband is here next to me. He has been having expiratory wheezing in his upper chest, throat region. He says it feels like its in the tonsil area- he still has his tonsils. It gets worse in the evening and he has clear, whitish mucous he can cough up- he says feels like its coming from throat area. He doesn t have a sore throat, per se. He says when he squeezes his Adam s apple area, it seems to suppress the wheezing. Any ideas?

dear user

about your question i would like to tell you that these symptoms you mentioned refer mainly to have lung infection bacterial or viral or having what is called bronchial asthma..........your husband feeling of these symptoms should not make you worry as it is common problem.....about what to do that you should first refer to chest doctor to examine your husband throat and chest ........he may need to do x ray of chest to role out any lung problems or pneumonia...... he should be away from stress and anxiety andspicy foods because these will get symptoms worse.......he should also drink alot of warm fluids that will make you better ......he should also have bed rest and no effort that cause you be tired .......he can also take bronchodilaters for relief of wheezing such as salbutamol ......he must stop smoking if he is smoker ........he can gargle your throat with saline as simply it helps to decontaminate your throat. .........some times we require throat swab for investigation if symptoms get worse but now you not need that.......if bacterial infection suggested he will prescribed amoxicillin +clavulinic or erythromycin or may need to do antibiotic sensitivity test if there is pneumonia as it is antibiotic has great role in treatment of throat infection.............wish you healthy life
