Multiple things can cause wheezing after bypass surgery, 1st)there is fluid retention after surgery which takes a few days to weeks to completely go away, 2)Being on the ventilator certainly causes irritation 3)The inhaled gases of anesthesia can cause irritation and lastly the condition of the heart itself .If heart is week it can cause wheezing in lungs.
