What Causes Wheezing With Terrible Cough?

I Went to the doctor three weeks ago with what I thought what is bronchitis when I went my doctor gave me a chest x-ray and a breathing test because of my symptoms everything must have been okay because they never called me back with any negative results however he did say I had pharyngitis and put me on the Z pack within a couple days I got worse ended up having to go to a med Point Because the cough was so severe I couldn t take the pain in my ribs and back from coughing was so severe my ribs and back hurt terribly. I also had bad wheezing which I had never had before. Sounded like snoring. The doc. At med point gave me a breathing treatment which helped a lot and because it helped he diagnosed me with bronchitis. He put me on an inhaler and pain meds for cough and pain. I also had green mucous. I ve been off zpak for about 2 weeks and still have a feeling to cough with occasional green mucous and a burning feeling in my chest mainly to right side. Do I need more antibiotics? I am a smoker who is cutting down and trying to quit. Could it be something else? No fever , oh and during my coughing attacks my nodes in my neck were very swollen too.

Thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
I advice you , not to take further antibiotics.
In my opinion you are having early COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) because of cigarette smoking.
So consult pulmonologist and get done repeat PFT (pulmonary function test) to rule out early COPD. In early COPD markers of small airway are affected. So look for decrease in FEF 25-75% for the diagnosis of early COPD. If early COPD is present than you may need inhaled Bronchodilators.
And quit smoking as early as possible. It will only harm you. So better to avoid smoking and start treatment.
You can join rehabilitation for quitting smoking.
