What Causes When An Extra Does Of Propranolol Taken?

I am 75 year old female and I take Propranolol Tab 20mg (1/2 tablet twice daily).I normally take it around 8 a. m. and 8 P.M. I made a mistake and took another l/2 tablet when I awoke this morning at 4:oo a.m thinking I had missed the 8 P. M. dose last night. What reaction might I have? And when and how much should I take another?

I can understand your concern ma'm.

Overdose of propranolol may include slow or uneven heartbeats, dizziness, weakness, or fainting.

I would suggest you to
1. Get emergency medical attention if you have:
slow or uneven heartbeats;
a light-headed feeling, like you might pass out;
wheezing or trouble breathing;
shortness of breath (even with mild exertion),
sudden weakness, vision problems, or loss of coordination;
cold feeling in your hands and feet;
2. Do not take ur morning 8AM dose of Propranolol;but continue with ur 8PM dose as usual.

For future situations keep in mind..in case u miss a dose.. Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if your next dose is less than 4 hours away

Consult a cilinician whenever necessary..
He/she can examine her and correlate clinically.
Do not worry much.
