What Causes White Film On Inside Of Lower Lip After Unprotected Sex?
Hello, there has been an issue worrying me since about the beginning of January. Occasionally there will be a white film on the inside of my lower lip, typically the right side. Before I would just peel it off with my teeth and it would be back to normal. It is whiteish clearish and has a stringy like texture. Today I really looked at it and it seems like it s originating from one spot. What concerns me most is that I usually get this 36 hours after I perform unprotected oral sex on my boyfriend. However, he said he is tested every year and is clean. I haven t been tested. I have had two partners, him being my second. I was my first partners first as well, so he should be clean. Could this be an std? Or is it just renewing skin?

Hi there.
Firstly, any unprotected sex could lead to an STD.
It does not mean that if a person is 'clean' on appearance externally, he/she does not harbour any infection especially in the case of viral infections.
In your particular instance, I strongly suspect Herpes simplex infection. This is a viral infection & for broad description, one may say there are two types Herpes simplex1 & Herpes Simplextype2; the latter was earlier more linked with sexual transmission but with the advent of rampant oral sex, either/or HSV1 or 2 may be an issue.
I would advice you to do a blood test (serum Herpes 1& 2 Ig G & IGM); This will tell you if you have the infection at all, what type of virus, recent or old infection & the titre as well. Then your dermatologist can recommend the appropriate antiviral treatment. I usually favour the gold standard medicine Acyclovir in either tablet or local cream form depending on your state of infection et al.'
