Hi, I am 23 yr girl n suffering from white patches on my face (may b due to sun allergy). i have been to many doctors but got only temporary solution. one of my friend recommended me to use "ROVATE" . I got relief with this liquid but a doctor suggested me not to use it as there will be acne problem associated with this medicine.
Seems that the white patches on your face are due to pityriasis alba which clinically presents as ill-defined, off-white colored, hypopigmented patches with some scaling.
They are commonly seen in those who have a dry skin.
I would suggest you to use a gentle cleanser for face wash rather than a soap, moisturise your skin twice daily and then apply a mildly potent topical steroid e.g hydrocortisone cream twice daily over the patches for 2-3 weeks.
That usually makes the patches of pityriasis alba lighter.
ROVATE is a superpotent steroid and should never be used on face due to the risk of steroid related side effects like acne, hirsutism, photosensitivity, skin thinning and telangiectases etc. Your doctor is absolutely right in suggesting that to you
