What Causes White Patches On The Tonsils?

hi. i am a female, aged around 31 years. I have swollen tonsils and pain in swallowing even liquids. On the tonsils, there are three our four white patches. what could it possibly be. I had something similar a few months back and was treated with antibiotics. Is there any chance that they may be related to having oral sex?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain pain in throat along with white spots on tonsils can be due to Follicular Tonsillitis and the white patches seems to be pus pockets secondary to bacterial infection..
It can be related to oral sex in a way that if proper hygiene is not maintained of the genitals the throat can get infected..
I would suggest you to consult an ENT expert and get evaluated and a throat swab culture can help in diagnosis and in case if bacterial infection is diagnosed he can advise you antibiotics like Azithromycin, anti-inflammatory painkillers like Advil or Aleve, warm saline gargles, steam inhalations and use a humidifier in your room..
Avoiding spicy and chilled foods and chewing vitamin C pellets and sucking throat lozenges can further relieve..
