What Causes White Semi-solid Stool Discharge In A Child?

Hi Doctor, my 4 month old baby-girl, is passing white semi-solid stool since yestrerday ( 3 yeaterday & 2 today). Daily she vomits (full), once a day (since she is 3 months old). Her weight was 4.250 kgs, during last doctor visit 25 days earlier, Her weight is still the same today. What should i do ? worried parent

Hi,

Her weight is inadequate for age (by this time we expect around 6.0-6.5 kg) How many times she vomits a day? Is the stool white since birth? Usually infants passes yellow coloured stools. If its is consistently white, we need to rule out cholestasis (obstruction to bile flow from liver to gut). Also, since her weight is too inadequate, we need a detailed evaluation. This may suggest inadequate feeling, too frequent vomiting (reflux disease) or other underlying diseases like cholestasis. Kindly discuss with your pediatrician.
