What Causes White Tissue During Bowel Movement After Taking Stool Softener?
I have been having issues with my bowl movements the past month or so, my doctor prescribed stool softener but hasn t really helped. I took the stool softener today and have gone maybe 4 times about 2 he s after taking it, I now am passing a white tissue like substance when I go. What could that be? Should I go to the emergency room?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the findings taking laxative as per the advise of your Doctor and now passing 4 motions and also passing a white substance. There may not be a need to go to ER. Send the stool sample to the lab so that a proper diagnosis will be had. This may be the laxatives or a mucus or a shredded mucosa which is a possibility. Consult a Doctor with this report. Also go for other tests as may be advised other than stool test. You may later on need a colonoscopy and CT scan of the abdomen if required to get a proper diagnosis and hence you should get ready for the proper courses of medications as may be required. Stop the laxative as this may be the cause.
