What Causes White Vaginal Discharge?

I am 51. Had a historectmy last year, also had a fibroid removed. Three months after all this happens I start getting a vaginal itch. I am 5ft and 11 inches and weigh 260lbs. Never had a yeast infection in my life. A white pastey discharge is showing up on my underwear. What is this?
