My skin itches over my whole body. Not all the time but at certain times during the day. Even the palms of my hands. I take a Benadryl and get some relief. Additionally I have red blotches on my face and scrap that itch constantly. Seems to be affected by The suns UV rays, seem to make it worse. I take hydrocortizone ointment but no longer seems to be effective. Can you point me in the right direction from what I have shared?r
Hi. As per your case history you are having urticaria. My treatment advice is - 1. Avoid fast food and food with artificial colors for 2 months. 2. Don't take any medication without consulting a doctor as it may worsen the condition. 3. Apply a soothing lotion like calamine lotion on affected region twice daily. 4. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for 7-10 days. 5. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
